Naturalness claims

Requirements, wording, case law

Advertising food as natural and close to nature is attractive, but not so easy to implement with legal certainty. The legal framework and the relevant case law as well as
case law and other sub-legal guidelines must be taken into account in order to reduce the risk of a warning. We provide a clear overview of what needs to be considered legally and use various examples to illustrate what is important in different product groups. This is because naturalness claims must always be assessed with regard to the product category and the specific composition.
